Well, it appears I jinxed myself on my last blog post about the Wall Street Journal Sentiment Tracker that NetBase powers, when I mentioned that I am decidedly not a football fan, but probably need to start learning more about it. The March 24th installment of the WSJ Sentiment Tracker looked at social media conversations about Tim Tebow – and once again, I am at a loss for any commentary on the inner workings of the NFL. Luckily, my fellow friends chatting in social media had plenty to say…so let’s just rely on their perspective, shall we?
What I found most interesting about this analysis was how polarized Facebook and Twitter conversations were on the subject of Tim Tebow moving from the Broncos to the Jets (I almost sound like I know what I’m talking about, don’t I?). The thing I still do not totally get is how people on teams are traded just like baseball cards – sorry for the mixed sports metaphor…Anyway, 29% said they were all for it, 34% were against it and 30% couldn’t stop comparing Tebow to Mark Sanchez, the current quarterback for the Jets. Since I am not sure where I fall here, I thought I’d leave it to those who do, and to you, readers! Let me know what you think, and any tips on how to get into football, clearly I need to step my game up!
